Symptoms of lymphoma
General manifestations
- Painless enlargement of lymph nodes (cervical, axillary, inguinal)
- Night sweats (so severe that a change of clothes is required)
- Unexplained weight loss (>10% in 6 months)
- Itchy skin without rash
- Low-grade fever (37.1-38.0°C)
Specific signs
- Hodgkin’s lymphoma: pain in the lymph nodes after drinking alcohol
- Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL): “B” symptoms (fever, sweating, weight loss)
- Primary extranodal lymphomas: damage to the stomach, central nervous system, skin
Important: In 30% of patients, the first symptom is only weakness or itching of the skin.

- Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

Classification and stages of lymphoma
Main types
Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL):
- Classic (95% of cases)
- Nodular sclerosis (type 1)
Non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas:
- B-cell (diffuse large B-cell, follicular)
- T-cell (peripheral, anaplastic)
Ann Arbor Stages
- Stage I: Damage to 1 group of lymph nodes
- Stage II: 2+ groups on one side of the diaphragm
- Stage III: Involvement on both sides of the diaphragm
- Stage IV: Bone marrow/other organ involvement
Lymphoma Treatment Methods
1. Chemotherapy
- LH: ABVD, BEACOPP protocols
- Aggressive NHL: R-CHOP (rituximab + cyclophosphamide)
2. Targeted therapy
- Brentuximab vedotin (for recurrent HL)
- BTK inhibitors (ibrutinib for mantle cell lymphoma)
3. Immunotherapy
- CAR-T cells (tisagenlecleucel for B-cell lymphomas)
- PD-1 inhibitors (nivolumab for HL)
4. Transplantation
- Autologous (for aggressive forms)
- Allogeneic (for relapses)
5. Radiation therapy
- IFRT (irradiation of only affected areas)
Survival prognosis
- HL stages I-II: 90-95% 5-year survival rate
- Aggressive NHL: 60-70% (with R-CHOP)
- Recurrent forms: 40% response to CAR-T
Risk factors:
- Age >60 years
- High LDH levels
- 3+ extranodal lesions
