Treatment of liposarcoma in Germany
Modern approaches to the treatment of malignant tumors of adipose tissue

Liposarcoma is a rare malignant tumor arising from fat cells. RheinRegio Klinik Zentrum uses individualized treatment protocols, including radical surgery, modern methods of radiation therapy and targeted drugs. Our goal is to maximize the preservation of the function of the affected area while completely removing the tumor.
Symptoms of liposarcoma

- Thick consistency upon palpation
- Restricted mobility when located near joints

- Highly differentiated (least aggressive)
- Myxoid (intermediate malignancy)
- Pleomorphic (most aggressive)
AJCC Stages
- I: Low-grade tumors <5 cm
- III: High-grade tumors >10 cm
- IV: Presence of distant metastases
Treatment methods for liposarcoma
1. Surgical treatment
- Wide excision involving 2-3 cm of healthy tissue
- Saving operations with microsurgical reconstruction
- Lymph dissection (if nodes are affected)
2. Radiation therapy
- Neoadjuvant (to reduce tumor volume)
- Proton therapy (for retroperitoneal locations)
3. Systemic therapy
- Doxorubicin (first-line drug)
- Trabectedin (for myxoid forms)
- Olaratumab (targeted drug)
Survival prognosis
Highly differentiated forms: 80-90%
Pleomorphic forms: 30-50%
